Beatles A to Z
EVERY SUNDAY IN AUGUST
Doors 5PM / Show 6PM
$10 BUY TICKETS

One evening in March of 2006, Tim Palmieri and Sean Miller were playing music together. Sean was showing Tim how to play "Dear Prudence" when the two musicians thought, "What if two people tried to play every Beatles song that was recorded alphabetically from A to Z?"

Thus became the concept of The Beatles A-Z project.

The two musicians have been influenced by The Beatles since first being introduced to the music at an early age, which contributed to their vast knowledge of the music, lyrics and the nuances you hear in the original recordings. Their role in presenting this project is to perform each song just as the original recordings were recorded; all the while making each song their own. Another purpose for presenting this, that Tim and Sean both agreed upon, is to share their enthusiasm and passion of the Fab Four.

THE APPLE PIRATES
EVERY THURSDAY IN AUGUST
Doors 7PM / Show 8:30PM / FREE

A cosmic triple party of unicorn champions ride into battle brandishing filtbiant synth leads and facial hair. With the energy two, maybe three, oxen, the Apples Pirates will deliver in less than thirty minutes. Problems solved. Pescone.
RELIGIOUS GIRLS
Thursday, July 9th
8PM / 21+ / $5
w/ Our Brother The Native, Jerkagram, Landing & Florida = Death

Religious Girls is a diverse group of multi-instrumentalists, with each member hailing from separate musical backgrounds that ranges from metal to noise to math rock and pop. Using their talents, Religious Girls focus thier energy into creating beautiful harmonies and layering them over intricate percussive ryhthms. Prefering to play on the floor near listeners rather than a distant stage, they feel that no matter how high of quality a recording may be the live set is what moves people, and therefore focus on creating intimacy with the crowd. Collectively, the band has tried to push aside the standards of popular song writing with non-repeating structures, an intricate mathmatical style, and a carefully laid out set in which all songs are interweaved into one. Religious Girls offers an intense and dramatic set, leaving viewers in awe by the end of the performance. Religious Girls is currently on a self booked U.S. tour with the band Our Brother The Native (FatCat Records) starting June 14, and is definitely not something to be missed.

MAN MAN
Wednesday, July 15th
8PM / ALL AGES
$14 ($12 advance)
BUY TICKETS

Man Man is known for their exuberant live performances. When performing, the members of the band dress in white outfits and wear war paint. Comparisons to the usual avant-garde forefathers - Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Tom Waits - persist, but Man Man are decidedly not identity thieving or even overtly referencing these spiritual godfathers in their music, but rather are acting as torchbearers of the unusual, the spontaneous and the plainly fucking funny in an increasingly homogenized world. The Alternate Routes
Saturday, July 25th
w/ The Trews & Civil Twighlight
8PM / $15 ($12 advance) / 21+
BUY TICKETS

Money's tight. Times are tough. But take heart - there's an American band built for these uncertain times.

Since The Alternate Routes released their debut album Good and Reckless and True two years ago, hailed by Performing Songwriter as having "an unfailing melodic and soulful touch," many miles have rolled under their van's wheels and many stage’s have witnessed their songs. They've morphed into a touring beast with a sturdy backbone of fan support and an impressive repertoire of crowd-pleasing songs.

"In our music we acknowledge the hardship that's out there," says singer/songwriter/guitarist Tim Warren. " But we do our best to make people forget about it for a while and give them a great show."

The Trews
The Trews’ reputation is built on buffed and visceral rock songs, but on No Time for Later they cohere like never before. The structures are more compelling, the playing is more articulate, and the results more nourishing. And the group’s musical breakthrough has certainly been noticed by others, including shock rock legend Alice Cooper, who christened The Trews “A great young band with a Zeppelin feel,” the Calgary Sun called the album “A regular masterpiece of rock n’ roll,” while Creative Loafing raved, “Exciting, brash crunch rockers who connect like prime Humble Pie.”

Trail of Dead is a shoegaze/rock band best known for their heavy yet anthemic music and their tendency to destroy their equipment at the end of their performances (a rock and roll tradition usually associated with The Who). According to the band’s website, the name “…And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead” is taken from both an ancient Mayan ritual chant and an Egyptian burial text.
Darik & The Funbags
Fri, July 31st
$8 / Show 9PM / 21+

We started playing Connecticut in 1997 and have since grown our territory faster than a door-to-door Jehovah's Witness, with gigs in five New England States. Like the Big E, but naughtier. We play New York and New Jersey, too... But that doesn't seem to impress the puritans back home. We have been featured on VH-1's Cover Wars, so you can see we have national exposure too!

TURBINE
@ THE APPLE PIRATES
RESIDENCEY WEEK #3

Thur, August 20th
FREE / Show 9PM / 21+

Turbine has been building a following the past few years around their dynamic live performances and constant touring schedule. Exploring various styles of music from rock to bluegrass to sci-fi, they use their vast catalog of songs as launching pads for improvisation. Recently chosen by Relix Magazine as artists "On the Verge", they have now released their second studio album Reward to critical praise. Ryan Rightmire, playing the harmonica and acoustic guitar at the same time, brings this classic combo into the 21st century as he manipulates effects that can turn his harmonica into an electric guitar, organ, and even a turntable. Jeremy Hilliard, in addition to being a prolific songwriter, brings an explosive electric guitar style steeped in the blues and roots traditions of the south. This one two punch of intertwining soloists, backed by Eric Johnson on drums and Justin Kimmel on bass, sound like nothing you’ve heard before. Their ability to switch styles has allowed them to play in any situation, from performing Led Zeppelin songs with Marco Benevento of The Duo to sitting in with bluegrass legends the Del McCoury Band.

ELECTRIC SIX
Saturday, August 22nd
w/ Les Sans Culottes
8PM / 21+/ $12 ($10 advance)
BUY TICKETS

Electric Six fuses rock and punk with the laid-back funky rhythms and falsetto vocals of disco, and a distinctly comic touch. However, they tend to reject such genre classifications as disco-metal and disco punk. They formed the band in 1996 and were initially known as The Wildbunch, eventually dropping that name due to pressure from the Bristol trip-hop collection of the same name. Throughout the latter half of the ’90s, they played about once a month at the Magic Bag in Ferndale, Magic Stick, and the now-defunct Gold Dollar in Detroit, the center of a scene that produced breakout acts like The White Stripes.
